Walpole Farms needed to expand its dairy operations while ensuring optimal cow comfort and productivity. This was a complex challenge as the scale was unparalleled in the region. Akura designed and delivered a contemporary facility that balanced high-volume production with animal welfare and operational efficiency.

Large-scale expansion
The Walpole family faced a monumental task: expand their dairy operations while ensuring optimal cow comfort and productivity. With two 990-cow free-stall barns and an 80-unit basement parlour rotary dairy spanning across 25 hectares, the scale of the project was unparalleled in the region.
Our process
Our team designed and delivered an 80-unit basement parlour rotary dairy, equipped with a BouMatic milking equipment and capable of operating 22 hours per day.
Deep, clean sand bedding and automated fans with temperature and humidity sensors ensured cow comfort in any conditions. We also designed and built a commodity barn and water recycling systems to manage manure and water, making the facility self-sufficient year-round.
By managing all stages of the project, from planning and approvals to engineering, manufacturing and build, we can ensure quality work and efficient delivery.
